I went to Montebello, QC this past weekend to check out Park Omega(let’s be honest, I went for fries at La Belle Bedaine but needed a better excuse). It was once a hunting ranch but has since been converted to a drive-in wildlife park. I think, judging by how comfortable the animals were with humans, that it would have been like shooting fish in a barrel when it was a hunting facility. In any event, it’s always nice to pet a deer or be licked by a 1000 pound Elk, from time to time. And if you’re having any troubles with salt on your car in the winter, maybe look into getting a Bison.

…the fries were delicious.

So a friend of mine was in town with his band, Pistol George Warren(http://www.myspace.com/pistolgeorgewarren or click the image) and wanted to do some shooting while he was here. This summer my girlfriend took me to rural Quebec for my birthday. We rented a cabin on a lake and it was awesome. It was really nice to spend some time without an internet connection(even though we ranted angrily at the lack of one after making friends with Tanqueray 10) or television(which was not missed at all). After a few days at the cabin, we packed up and headed to Tremblant for the day before heading home. I didn’t shoot much while I was there, but on our way back through Tremblant, this tennis court caught my eye. It had sprinklers everywhere and was back-lit. I had never seen sprinklers on a tennis court before. Maybe that makes me small town or lacking culture or something like that, but I needed to stop and shoot this new discovery(click-through for a free desktop background).

      I just got back from Heather Morton’s lecture/speech/talk, at the Adobe building, and it was good. She had some interesting things to say, and lots of valuable advice to give. Not all of what she had to share is necessarily applicable to the Ottawa market, but not everyone she spoke to plans to stay here I guess either. I also learned that Ottawa photographers are people of few words when it comes to question time. I think many people had things they would have liked to ask but didn’t, for reasons unknown. In any event, it was nice to have the opportunity to meet, and listen to her in person since her blog is awesome and often insightful(click the image for her blog).
